Our Mission
Students use academic calculators to estimate semester grades, understand conversion methods, plan attendance, and structure study sessions.
Online calculators vary in their methods, privacy practices, supported grading scales, and advertising. ScholarKit aims to explain how its tools work and where users should verify institution-specific rules.
ScholarKit was built to offer a fast academic toolkit with browser-based calculations where supported, transparent methods, and clear limits on institution-specific results.
The 4 Core Architectural Pillars
1. Browser-Based Calculations
For tools designed for local processing, calculations run in your browser and do not require calculator values to be sent to a ScholarKit application server. Website hosting, security services, and optional analytics may process technical browsing information as described in our Privacy Policy.
2. Global Scale Agnosticism
Higher education is global. While typical tools hardcode a 4.0 scale, our tools support 4.0 (North America), 5.0 (Nigeria, Singapore), 7.0 (Australia), 10.0 (India / UGC / CBSE), and custom ceilings (e.g. 20.0 in France or 6.0 in Switzerland).
3. Verified Mathematical Rigor
Our tools use explicit calculation methods and document important limitations. Mathematical calculations are distinct from official academic equivalency: university and board conversion rules can vary by programme, regulation, and year. Where a specific rule is presented, consult its linked source and confirm that it applies to your course.
4. Frictionless Time-to-Value
The public tools do not require account creation or payment. Loading speed and availability can vary with the visitor's device, connection, and location.
Our Technology Stack
ScholarKit is built on a modern, ultra-lean web architecture:
- Astro: Static site generation (SSG) for the website's pages and assets.
- Preact: Ultra-compact, reactive client-side micro-components for live calculations.
- CSS Variables & System Fonts: Native Apple HIG and Ant Design inspired styling that responds instantly to light and dark system preferences.
- Edge Deployment: Static website delivery through Cloudflare Pages. Response times vary by network, device, and visitor location.
Editorial & Verification Policy
We document the mathematical models used by our tools and link to primary institutional sources where we have verified an applicable rule. Not every calculator formula is an official university conversion, and a source for one programme or scheme should not be generalized to all students. Check the linked source and scope notes before relying on an institutional preset.
For detailed mathematical formulas, rounding behavior, and institutional variations, please consult our Calculation Methodology documentation.
Leadership & Project Maintainers
ScholarKit is maintained as an open-source educational engineering initiative:
- Fuzail Vhora (Founder & Principal Software Engineer): Directs architecture, test suites, and client-side performance engineering. Personal contact: [email protected].
- Academic Contributor Network: Student researchers and alumni across engineering faculties (including VTU, GTU, Anna University, and Mumbai University) who audit syllabus updates, semester ordinances, and grading gazettes.
- Open Governance: Complete source code, test suites, and calculation algorithms are publicly inspectable and trackable on GitHub.
