1. Overview & Data Practices
ScholarKit ("we", "our", or "the platform") is designed so calculator inputs for tools built for local computation are processed in the visitor's browser. This does not prevent hosting, analytics, or other enabled third-party services from processing technical browsing information as described below.
When you use a calculator or text utility designed for local processing, the entered values are processed in your browser; the site does not require those values to be sent to a ScholarKit application server. We do not intentionally include calculator inputs in analytics event parameters. Hosting, security, and analytics services may still process technical browsing information.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
- No User Accounts: You do not need to register, log in, or provide an email address, name, or phone number to access our utilities.
- No Academic Record Storage: We do not operate a backend database storing course grades, credits, attendance logs, or personal notes.
- Text processing: The Word & Character Counter processes text locally for counting and does not require the text to be sent to a ScholarKit calculation server. Hosting, security, and optional analytics may process technical browsing information; we do not intentionally include the text itself in analytics events.
3. Browser LocalStorage & Session Storage
Certain utilities (such as the Pomodoro Study Timer or future study preference toggles) may utilize browser localStorage or sessionStorage. This data resides exclusively on your local device to preserve your timer durations or theme preferences across page refreshes. You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings.
4. Third-Party Hosting & Server Logs
Our static website files are hosted on edge infrastructure. When your browser requests a web page, the hosting and security providers may process technical network metadata such as IP address, browser user-agent, and request timestamps to deliver assets and protect the service. These technical request logs are governed by the hosting provider's security and privacy infrastructure and are not correlated with academic calculations.
5. Analytics, Advertising & Third-Party Services
ScholarKit uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate website usage and improve its pages and tools. The Google Analytics script is not loaded on the production site unless a visitor selects “Accept analytics” in the privacy choices banner. Visitors can reject optional analytics or reopen Privacy choices from the footer.
If analytics is accepted, Google may process technical information such as page URLs, referrer information, browser and device attributes, approximate location, and interactions with the website. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar identifiers under its applicable terms and settings. We do not intentionally send calculator inputs as analytics event parameters.
Advertising is currently disabled in the site layout while publisher approval and the required Google-certified Consent Management Platform (CMP) configuration remain unverified. This site does not currently claim that a certified AdSense CMP is active. If advertising is enabled in the future, applicable consent and privacy requirements will be reviewed before launch.
- Google Ads Settings: Users can review available Google advertising preferences at Google Ads Settings.
- Third-party services: Hosting and security providers may process technical request metadata to deliver and protect the website.
- California privacy requests: Depending on applicability, California residents may have rights regarding personal information. Contact us through the Contact page to submit a privacy request. Required opt-out signal handling will be verified before enabling any advertising activity that requires it.
6. Cookies & Local Storage Usage
ScholarKit utilizes minimal local technologies:
- Essential LocalStorage: Used solely to preserve your countdown schedules (Exam Tracker) and timer preferences (Pomodoro) locally on your device without server communication.
- Third-Party Partner Cookies: Optional analytics may use cookies after consent. Advertising is currently disabled; this section will be updated if advertising is enabled.
7. Children's Privacy
Our platform is designed for general student audiences, including high school, undergraduate, and graduate students. Because we do not collect personal identifiers, we do not knowingly harvest personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Union).
